Roy Welch

	Roy Welch of Pinckneyville passed away at his home Monday, February 21, 2000 at the age of 85 years.
	Roy was bon in Sato, IL on December 7, 1914, the son of Oscar and Mollie (Gaertner) Welch.  He was united in marriage to Betty Ann Wild on November 19, 1949 at St. Paul United Church of Christ and to this union was born four children.
	Roy was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the United Mine Workers of America.  He was retired after 42 years as a Coal Loader Operator for Frieman United Fidelity Mine and was an Army veteran serving in the Engineers during World War II.  Roy was also an active member of the Pinckneyville Lions Club for many years.
	Survivors are his wife, Betty of Pinckneyville; one daughter, Barbara Lynn Hill and husband Dale Alan of Steeleville; three sons, Kevin Dale Welch of Pinckneyville, Charles Chuck Norman Welch and wife Sharon of Tamaroa and Dennis Roy Welch and wife Kathy of East Peoria; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Grace Greer of DuQuoin.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles and one sister, Jessie Sullivan.
	Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 23 at the St. Paul United Church of Christ at 11 a.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating.  Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
	Friends were able to call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning from 8 until 9:30 a.m. then at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.
	Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Mary Kuykendall-Carpenter Heart Fund.
